Dear dear Kathi,
The Light of God before me.
The Light of God behind me.
The Light of God above me.
The Light of God beside me.
The Light of God within me.
From the Prayer of St. Patrick
I hadn't heard of a prayer shawl or square/what a wonderful idea. Here is Kathi's response:
Betty belongs to a prayer shawl group at church. They knit shawls for people who are going to be facing surgery or who are ill. The yarn is prayed over and blessed before they begin knitting it. Betty had started this shawl not knowing who it would be for. She hurried it to finish it to bring to me last Monday. I have been snuggling up in it in the evening and there is something very comforting about it. Also will bring to the hospital with me on Tuesday as robes don’t work well in bed and I am usually cold plus the connection just will give me great comfort. The prayer square (separate from the shawl) was invented because she thought it would be nice for people to have something they could carry with them to treatments etc. I decided I wanted to put the prayers people have been sending me on it. So I typed the prayers, punched a hole in the corner of each and threaded them together with a ribbon. I took them with me on Thursday and they were useful while I was waiting for the procedures. I told her that I want to order some squares to give to other friends who are going through some tough stuff as well. I would love to have your prayer added to those I have. It is like having everyone with me in spirit. I now just have to hope that all is in place for Tuesday. I am ready to get this show on the road. XOXXO Kathi

I have never been through the experience that Kathi is going through right now, but I have found Psalm 91, to be very reassuring and comforting during serious trials and stresses. Kathi can substitute her name in verse 14 and on, to personalize it. Example: "Because Kathi has loved Me, therefore I will deliver her; I will set her (Kathi) securely o high, because she has known My name. She will call upon Me, and I will answer her. I will be with her in trouble; I will rescue her and honor her. With a long life I will satisfy her and let her see My salvation."
Kathi: I am praying for you.
